Hirotaka Yamada joined Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) in 2007. In 2015, he was transferred to Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as a director for International Cooperation at the Science and Technology Bureau. He returned to JST in 2018, where he has been working as a manager at the Office of STI for SDGs. He holds a MSc in Science and Technology Policy from the University of Sussex.
This article reviews Japan’s efforts to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and discusses the future in science, technology and innovation (STI) to achieve the SDGs at global, regional, national, and local levels.
