Maria Elena Bottazzi, Ph.D., is a professor, the Division Chief of Pediatric Tropical Medicine, and the Co-director of the Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development at Baylor College of Medicine. In 2019, she was selected by the U.S. National Academy of Medicine as one of ten Emerging Leaders in Health and Medicine Scholars.
Developing vaccines for the next pandemic will require an expanded portfolio that balances new and traditional technologies, together with increased capacity for vaccine production extending beyond multinational companies.
