Michael Martin has been a volunteer advisor with the Institute of International Education Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) since 2018. He holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering and an MA in Asian Studies from the University of Michigan, an MS in Science and Technology Studies from Virginia Tech, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida.
Displaced scientists face immense challenges in rebuilding their lives. With the numbers of forcibly displaced people at a record high, the displacement of scientists is a diplomatic issue that needs concerted efforts from multiple stakeholders.
