Riccardo Trobbiani is Project Researcher at the United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS) and Academic Assistant at the College of Europe in Bruges. At UNU-CRIS, he researches on EU Cultural, Science and Economic Diplomacy initiatives in various regions of the world, within the EU-funded project ‘European Leadership in Cultural, Science and Innovation Diplomacy’ (EL-CSID).
This article argues that science and innovation should receive more attention within European Union trade policy, and vice versa, in order to mitigate risks and help the EU develop solutions to global challenges.
