Visiting Scholar at University of California San Diego

Dr. Sandra Rebok is a historian of knowledge, author, speaker and scientific consultant whose research focuses on 18th/19th century exploration voyages, intellectual networks and transnational scientific collaboration. She has over twenty years of experience in Alexander von Humboldt scholarship, being the author of several books on Humboldt and the editor of three of his works in Spanish. Currently she is a Visiting Scholar at the Center for US-Mexican Studies at University of California San Diego and a research associate at the University of San Diego.

Perspective

Alexander von Humboldt is famous for his scientific expeditions, but this perspective looks at common misconceptions in regard to the famous figure, and argues that he was perhaps an early practitioner of science diplomacy.
