Atsushi Sunami is an associate professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies and a former special advisor to the Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy, the Cabinet Office of Japan.
Japan must incorporate science diplomacy into its foreign policy strategy if it is to rebuild important relations with key countries and remain a global player in science and technology.
